What is anxiety?
Anxiety is an inevitable part of life in today’s fast pace society, with so many people trying to cram so much into 24 hours, with technology offering people so much choices and yet at the same time it hasn’t eased our stresses or anxieties. With all this going on around us, it is acceptable to react with some anxiety, this we can call ordinary anxiety reactions, at the same time if we didn’t react this way, it would be a concern.
The anxiety that causes great distress to peoples lives we call anxiety disorder. They can be clearly distinguished from everyday normal anxiety in many ways.
- More intensity (i.e. panic attacks)
- Last longer (can go on for months)
- It can lead to phobias
Anxiety can appear in different forms and levels of intensity, from a slight uneasiness to a full blown panic attack with disorientation, sweating and terror.
How does Hypnotherapy Help?
- Treating a client suffering from anxiety can consist of several parts
- Life style – Looking closely at a persons lifestyle, sometimes just making a few changes like eliminating stimulants and sugar from the diet, regular exercise and some stress management makes a difference
- Hypnosis- Using Hypnotic suggestions to alter the client’s perception of their situation, also this will help them overcome distressful symptoms
- Self hypnosis- Teach clients techniques that they can use when feelings try to take over
- Panic control therapy- identifying and eliminating thoughts that tend to trigger panic attacks
